The Lake Mitchell HOBO Scholarships & Grants Program supports education in Chilton and Coosa County.  

• Scholarships - HOBO annually awards a $2000 scholarship to each of two deserving high school seniors from Coosa or Chilton County.  Click for HOBO Scholarship Instructions and Application Form​
• Grants - HOBO also awards competitive grants of up to $500 each to teachers in Chilton and Coosa County to help fund special projects in their classrooms.  Click for Teacher Grant Application 

Funding for the annual scholarship program comes from a combination of proceeds from the Poker Run and other contributions to HOBO.

2024 Scholarship Winner

Sidney Thornton is the 2024 Lake Mitchell HOBO Student Scholarship recipient.  She will graduate in May from Central High School in Coosa County.   Sidney plans to attend the University of South Alabama in Mobile and major in Radiologic Science/Radiation Therapy.

​2024 Teacher Grant Winners

Marie Butts, Scholarship Committee Chairman for HOBO, presents checks to deserving teachers to support their winning grant-application projects.  HOBO awarded more than $6,000 in grant money to local teachers for projects that will benefit over 2,500 students during the 2024-2025 school year, with many years of benefit to come.
