Thanks to HOBO, Lake Mitchell has a unique resource that few other lakes have to offer - "Marine 9" - a fire and rescue boat that can respond to fire and medical emergencies along the lake's shores.  The boat is designated as Marine 9, and it is now owned and operated by the East Chilton Volunteer Fire & Rescue Department.  In 2023 East Chilton purchased a new Marine 9 boat that was designed from the ground up as a rugged fire and rescue boat.
