In 1996, founding father Dan Murchison recognized the need for an organization that would promote environmental protection of our beautiful Lake Mitchell, as well as build community among its residents.  Dan began a grass roots effort - going door to door, meeting people, passing out flyers, and encouraging neighbors to gather at his home to spread his vision.  What emerged was a Home Owners and Boat Owners group open to all residents and dedicated to "Preserve, Protect and Improve"  life on Lake Mitchell.

In the last 25 years, HOBO has grown to a membership of over 400 families. The list of achievements over the last 25 years is astonishing for an all-volunteer organization.
