Ed Warren

Poet Laureate of Lake Mitchell

Many folks who have been on Lake Mitchell for a while will remember Ed Warren, the unofficial Poet Laureate of the lake.  Ed and his lovely wife Laura were usually found "minding the store" at Blue Creek Marina, owned by their son, Bo Warren.  Ed was full of wit and wisdom which he enjoyed sharing with the patrons who came to fill their boats with gas or purchase snacks from the store.  He told his stories and poems with his twinkling eyes and endearing smile, delighting listeners young and old.  The marina was covered with clever signs that he posted to amuse and inspire.  And inside the store you could purchase some of his famous cans of potted crow or potted possum!  If you were really fortunate, you obtained one of the hiking sticks that Ed hand painted with symbols to guide you while exploring the world around you.
