Teacher Grants

In 2021, due to Covid-19 challenges for schools, HOBO awarded teacher grants instead of student scholarships to help provide schools with materials to help with the challenges of distant learning and other educational obstacles.   Since the teacher grants enabled us to reach so many students, HOBO has voted to again award competitive teacher grants of up to $500 in addition to the two student scholarships..

2023 Teacher Grants

The 2023 Lake Mitchell Poker Run was a huge success.  Not only was it great fun for all who participated, but over $8,000 was raised to support educational endeavors i Chilton and Coosa counties.  In the fall of 2023, the Lake Mitchell Home Owners Association (HOBO), with help from the Poker Run, funded two $2,000 scholarships to local high school seniors.  In addition, the following educational grants are being funded to teachers in local schools.  Marie Butts, Scholarship Committee Chairman for HOBO, presents checks for the grants to deserving teachers.  Hover over each picture to see information, or click to see an enlargement of each photo.
